Norito Shinmura | Sea, Mountain and Norito Shinmura (海と山と新村則人)

Shinmura grew up as the eighth child in a fishing family on Ukashima, a small island in the Seto Inland Sea with a circumference of 8 km. There he spent his formative childhood and youth amidst nature. This experience sensitized him to the themes of nature, environment, and ecology. After graduating from Osaka Designer's College, he worked at Shin Matsunaga Design Inc. and founded Shinmura Design Office in 1995. He has won numerous awards for his environmentally conscious work.
