Furoshiki are traditional Japanese square cloths used for wrapping and carrying a variety of items.
Furoshiki in size M are suitable for medium-sized gifts and A4-sized items, for books, and for single wine bottles. Camellias are popular in Japan because they retain their green leaves and bright blossoms even in the winter cold, symbolizing vitality, generosity, and humility.
Thanks to the water-repellent coating (Aqua Drop), water beads off the cloth, protecting bags and luggage from sudden rain. The cloth can also be used as a seat cover or tablecloth. If the water-repellent effect diminishes, it can be restored by ironing at a medium temperature.
Musubi is the main brand of Yamada-Sen'i, a company founded in Kyoto in 1937, and stands for modern Furoshiki. The name Musubi (結び) means 'to tie' or 'to connect' and refers to the art of tying as well as the connection between people, things, and tradition.
