Furoshiki are traditional Japanese square cloths used for wrapping and carrying various items.
Medium-sized furoshiki are suitable for medium-sized gifts or A4-sized items, for books or single wine bottles. Camellias are popular in Japan because they retain their green leaves and bright blossoms even in winter cold, symbolizing vitality, generosity, and humility.
Thanks to the water-repellent coating (Aqua Drop), water beads off the cloth, protecting bags and luggage from sudden rain. The cloth can also be used as a seat cushion or tablecloth. If the water-repellent effect diminishes, it can be restored by ironing at medium temperature.
Musubi is the main brand of Yamada-Sen'i, a company founded in Kyoto in 1937, and stands for modern Furoshiki. The name Musubi (結び) means 'to tie' or 'to connect' and refers to the art of tying as well as the connection between people, things, and tradition.
