Tetsuo Mizu, born in Tokyo, studied at Musashino Art University and subsequently lived in various European cities. Mizu gained international recognition in the 1980s with his Flag Series. For these works, he arranged international maritime signal flags in such a way that their alphabet spelled out place names or personal names. These geometric works are original and colorful.
