The name says it all: The Teiza Isu (low chair) is characterized by its low seat height and generous seat surface. The comfortable low chair invites relaxation and fits into both Japanese and Western spaces. The armchair was presented at the Milan Triennale in 1960 and is a remarkable example of post-war modernism.
Junzo Sakakura and Daisaku Chō were known for their collaboration in furniture design. Chō worked at the Architectural Research Institute founded by architect Sakakura. Their collaboration led to furniture designs that combined Japanese aesthetics with modernism and often incorporated traditional materials and techniques.
