Unique series of cases, resulting from the collaboration between SIWA and the internationally renowned Japanese fashion label Minä Perhonen.
Minä Perhonen (Finnish: 'I, butterfly') is a textile and fashion label founded by Akira Minagawa in 1995, based in Tokyo. Minagawa is known for his imaginative and colorful, hand-drawn prints. He founded his brand with the goal of creating clothes and textiles that would not lose their appeal over time.
For this series, Minä Perhonen's hand-drawn designs are carefully screen-printed onto SIWA's Japanese "Naoron" paper. The fresh, playful patterns combined with the texture of the Washi paper complement each other beautifully and brighten up everyday life.
SIWA is a collaboration between the traditional Washi paper manufacturer ONAO and the renowned industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa. SIWA means "creases" and is Washi spelled backward (literally: "Japanese paper"), both characteristics of SIWA products.
The durable and stylish pieces are made from Naoron, a special type of paper developed by ONAO, which consists of a mixture of wood pulp and synthetic fibers. It has the characteristic texture of paper but does not tear easily and is extremely water-resistant.
