Risaburo Kimura 木村利三郎 | Untitled, 1974

Painter and print artist Kimura was born in Yokosuka in 1924 and first studied philosophy in Tokyo to become an art critic. In 1964, he moved to New York City, where he set up a studio and dedicated himself entirely to printmaking, especially screen printing. He gained recognition with his series "Great Cities in the World" from the late 1960s, featuring abstract and colorful fictional cityscapes. He spent three years on the series, which comprised over 400 images.
