For over 450 years, the Raku family has stood for a unique tradition of Japanese tea ceramics. Raku - A Living Tradition tells the story of this exceptional craftsmanship from Chōjirō, the founder of the Raku tradition, to Raku Jikinyū XV and Raku Kichizaemon XVI, the current head of the family.
The book presents around 200 significant works from 16 generations, supplemented by commentary on the individual masters, the pieces, and the evolution of Raku ceramics.
This is the 2025 new edition of the book RAKU: A Legacy of Japanese Tea Ceramics, published in 2015, and includes additional works by Raku Jikinyū XV following his retirement, as well as an expanded selection of works by Raku Kichizaemon XVI.
