Namasu is a versatile, deep plate named after the classic Japanese dish namasu. The dish consists of uncooked vegetables, usually radish and carrots, as well as seafood, pickled in rice vinegar, and is said to have been particularly popular during the Edo period.
The classic arabesque decor in cobalt blue (gosu) is combined with gold foil dots in this new interpretation by Amabro.
In line with their motto "Art in Everyday Life", Amabro designs stylish everyday objects for modern living, using traditional Japanese elements as a basis and reinterpreting them or combining them with modern details. With namasu, modern, graphic designs are layered over traditional, classic patterns. A cool mix that brings Arita's 400-year-old porcelain tradition to today's dinner table.
