Namasu is a versatile, deep plate named after the classic Japanese dish namasu . This dish consists of uncooked vegetables, usually radish and carrots, along with seafood pickled in rice vinegar, and is said to have been particularly popular during the Edo period.
In this new interpretation by Amabro, the classic arabesque decor in cobalt blue ( gosu ) is combined with dots of gold foil.
True to their motto "Art in Everyday Life," Amabro designs stylish everyday objects for modern living, using traditional Japanese elements as a foundation, which they reinterpret or combine with modern details. Namasu, on the other hand, overlays modern, graphic designs onto traditional, classic patterns. It's a cool mix that brings Arita's 400-year-old porcelain tradition to the contemporary dining table.
