An iconic design from 1961: The lightweight Murai Stool - named after Reiko Tanabe's maiden name - combines simplicity and elegance. Made from three identically shaped molded plywood parts, the stool is entirely free of metal fittings. The straight, striking teak grain radiates towards the center, lending warmth to the minimalist stool. Whether as a stool, side table, or small shelf, the Murai Stool fits into any interior.
With this design, Tanabe won Tendō Mokkō's furniture competition in 1961.
