The Incomplete series takes the typical cobalt blue (gosu) base patterns of traditional Arita plates and complements them with modern gold foil designs.
The small plates, called mamezara (literally: “bean” or “pea plates”), are an important part of Japanese table culture and are used in a variety of ways: as plates for soy sauce, dips, spices and herbs; for small side dishes such as pickled vegetables; for small snacks and sweets or even for butter and jam, and much more. Often designed with elaborate decor in various colours and shapes, mamezara have also become popular collector's items.
