Mobile featuring three cranes flying one above the other, gently and calmly floating through the room. In Japan, the crane is considered a symbol of happiness, longevity, and loyalty.
The mobile was created in collaboration between the design studio Cochae, founded in 2003, and the traditional printing house Onishi, which has been based in Bizen since 1920. Together, they produce paper products under the Bito-Kō label using the traditional letterpress printing process.
The design duo Cochae, consisting of Yosuke Chikuhara and Miki Takeda from Okayama, creates products that surprise and bring joy while simultaneously preserving Japan’s traditional culture. They engage deeply with the theme of “Design for Play” and bring the traditions of Japan into the 21st century with their unique design language.
