This poster was created for the poster design exhibition commemorating Sharaku's 200th anniversary. The artistic career of the enigmatic woodblock print designer Toshusai Sharaku (active 1794–1795) lasted only ten months, yet during this time he created some of Japan's most memorable works of art. Even 200 years later, his figure remains shrouded in mystery.

Graphic designer and creative director Kenzō Nakagawa founded NDC Graphics in Yokohama in 1994 after working in the advertising department of Takashimaya and the Nippon Design Center.
