The simple leaf contains the gentle fragrance "True Aqua," a fresh, clear, and vibrant aroma. HA KO, meaning "leaf incense," is a fragrance series made of washi paper in an elegant leaf shape, infused with natural essential oils. As potpourri, the leaves release their delicate fragrance for up to three months; when lit as incense sticks, they burn for approximately five to seven minutes, releasing their fragrance and deodorizing the room.
Kunjudo was founded on Awaji Island in 1893. Awaji Island is considered the birthplace of Japanese incense, whose history began when a fragrant piece of wood washed ashore. The island remains the epicenter of Japanese incense production to this day.
