At first glance, Futagami bottle openers don't look like bottle openers at all, more like works of art. They fulfill their purpose not only with style but also with surprising ease, transforming the act of opening a bottle into a celebratory ritual. The surface of the Eclipse opener is left raw, so the small irregularities make each opener unique. Over time, the metal's color changes through oxidation: the longer brass objects are used, the richer and finer the surface becomes.
Hiroshima-born designer and architect Masanori Oji designs timeless objects for everyday life using traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
The Futagami brass foundry was founded in 1897 in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. In Japan, brass was primarily used for metal fittings in furniture making, architecture, shipbuilding, handicrafts, and Buddhist altar furnishings.
