Crinkle Bag Vase | Ceramic Japan

Elegant and humorous: made from fine porcelain, the Crinkle Vase imitates a crumpled paper bag and looks great in any living room - with or without flowers. In 1982, the Crinkle Super Bag was included in the MoMA collection.

After studying at Musashino Art University, the multifaceted product designer Makoto Komatsu worked as an assistant to the Swedish ceramist Stig Lindberg at the Gustavsberg company. His designs are extremely versatile, ranging from ceramic, glass and stainless steel tableware to lighting and furniture. Some of his works have been included in the collections of MoMA in New York and the V&A Museum in London.

Ceramic Japan Co., Ltd. was founded in 1973 in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, with the aim of producing highly developed designs using traditional craftsmanship. The company works with designers from a wide range of fields to achieve innovative and artistic results that embody a perfect fusion of design and craftsmanship.
Seto is still an important production site for porcelain, ceramics and stoneware. So important that the general term for ceramics in Japanese is quite simply "setomono".
